Technology at Our Dental Clinic
At Landmark Dental Centre, we use modern technology to inform treatment planning and make your dental appointments run smoothly. Because we can display digital X-Rays and scans on the monitors in our treatment rooms, we can show you any issues in your mouth and discuss your treatment plan with you.
Our goal is to provide patients with dental care while making sure they are fully informed about their oral health. Dental technology helps us do that.
Digital X-Rays
Instead of traditional photographic X-Ray film, digital X-rays use digital sensors to produce highly detailed computer images of the teeth and gums, as well as other oral structures and conditions, allowing your dentist to examine parts of the mouth that are not visible to the naked eye.
Panoramic X-Rays
Panoramic X-rays allow your dentist to create a single image of your entire mouth. This image is a flat representation of the teeth, upper and lower jaws, temporomandibular joints (TMJ), and the nasal and sinus structures. Panoramic x-rays are a useful tool for your dentist in planning treatments for dentures, braces, extractions and implants.
Dental Lasers
In dentistry, lasers (focused light beams) can be used in a variety of soft and hard tissue procedures. They allow our dentists to perform dental procedures with less pain or patients and fewer medical interventions. At Landmark Dental Centre, our dentists use lasers to remove overgrown or decayed tissue, to reshape the gums, to harden dental restorations quickly, or to whiten teeth.
Oral Cancer Screening Device
The VELscope® is an oral cancer screening device that helps dentists to detect abnormalities and diseases in the mouth, such as cancerous and pre-cancerous lesions. Using fluorescence visualization technology, it can be performed in your dentist’s office during routine exams and under normal lighting conditions in about two minutes.
iTero 3D Intraoral Scanner
Intraoral scanners create digital dental impressions. This is an ideal alternative to traditional dental impressions.
To capture a digital dental impression, your dentist simply uses an optical scanning wand to take a digital image of your teeth within minutes.
The iTero® intraoral scanner takes precise 3D impressions of your bite. This allows us to plan your dental treatment in real-time, store data digitally, and create Invisalign clear aligners.
TRIOS® Digital Scanning
TRIOS® digital scanning technology is a 3D scanner that takes over 3000 pictures per second of the inside of your mouth. It then compiles these pictures into an interactable, 3D, and full-colour image on a touch screen.
These scans allow for patients to see the colouration, shape and condition of their teeth to help understand their oral health needs.
The scans created by TRIOS® can also be used in the creation of a number of dental restorations, including crowns, bridges, veneers, dental appliances, and orthodontic treatments.
